This trail is for the driver. Starting in Keith, travel through Strath Isla on the (B9014) following the route of the Dufftown to Keith railway to Dufftown, the whisky capital of Speyside. At the clocktower in the square turn right onto the (A941) to Craigellachie where you can see Telford's Iron Bridge over the river Spey. Turn right at the Tee junction on the (A941) to Elgin and in 0.5 miles take left turn (B9102) to Archiestown. Continue on to the old road through Strath Spey to Grantown-on-Spey.
On reaching Grantown turn left and travel through the square and take the left turn at the traffic lights (A95) Elgin and proceed to the roundabout. Here carry on over the river Spey bridge and in 0.75 miles turn right onto the (A939) to Tomintoul via Bridge of Brown and Bridge of Avon. Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands. Through the square turn left and then right keeping on the (A939) Braemar then on via the Lecht ski centre (DROP) down in to Strath Don.
Carry straight on through Strath Don on the (A944) to join the (A97) to Mossat. Here take a left at the Tee junction to Rhynie via Lumsden. At Rhynie turn left at the square on the (A941) to Dufftown where at the Tee junction turn right (A920) Huntly. At the junction with the (A96) turn left and return to Keith. On this trail you will only be driving on trunk roads for approximately 3 miles apart from Huntly to Keith
